Benetton ex Union Hotel

The first consideration when drawing up the proposed design for the Hotel Union was its new character, isolated from the urban layout created by the new square, and its permanent relationships with the historical context.

Müller-Martini
Zurigo, Switzerland, 2003 -2007

The project is located in a zone that has always been a traditionally industrial area, built in a heterogeneous fashion with large-scale factory blocks. Even if the layout continues with the city of Zurich's, it has no relationship with the definitive 18th century expansion of uniform blocks formed by the confines of the railroad. This element, the railroad, in relation to the scale of these two parts of the city, determines a net division in the urban fabric. Museo d’Arte Moderna
Bologna, Italy, 2000 -2007

The old bakery factory is reused for the new Galleria di Arte Moderna, or Modern Museum of Art, for the city of Bologna. This building is inserted into the general plan for the reuse of the area of the old tobacco factory. Cloister of Carmine
Brescia, Italy, 2001 -2005

This project involved the construction of a library reusing the spaces of the Cloisters of Carmine. First they were freed of additions and divisions realized in the first half of the century and in the 1950's and 1960's when the building was adapted for scholastic use. The restoration and evaluation of the historical stratification of the entire building complex consented the connection to the urban block through the system of cloisters. The project called [...]
