Marco Brandolisio was born on October 4, 1957 in Trieste, Italy.
He was awarded a degree in architecture in March 1987 after presenting a thesis entitled, "Trieste: The City and the Port". In the thesis, he dealt with the city's problem of recovering abandoned areas of the port.
Parallelly to practise the profession of an architect he has developed the teaching activities at the university in Milan under the guidance of Prof. Arch. E. Mantero at the beginning (1986) and continued with Prof. Arch. A. Monestiroli till 1995.
He has teached in 1997 at the I.U.A.V. in Venice and he is currently theaching architectural composition at the Faculty of Civil Architecture in the Polytechnic Institute in Milan.
In 1988, he began working with Prof. Aldo Rossi, architect, with whom he has participated in numerous projects and competitions both in Italy and abroad. M. Brandolisio has overseen important projects for the Aldo Rossi studio, such as a new L.I.U.C. university complex at Castellanza, Varese (1989-92), the expansion of Linate airport in Milan (1991-93), the Marine Museum of Galicia in Vigo, Spain (1992-93), the "Barialto" integrated residential centre in Bari, and the reconstruction of the Leipziger Platz in Berlin.
In 1989, he won the "Competition for a New Civic Centre on an Area Surrounded by Old Spanish Walls at Sant'Angelo Lodigiano".
M. Brandolisio has expanded his study of architectural and urban planning/composition through writing, research, competitions and professional practice.
He has also lectured by invitation at various universities in Italy and abroad, has participated in meetings and study seminars, and his writings and project have been published in numerous books and magazines on architecture. In 1999, he and fellow members of his studio edited a book entitled, "Aldo Rossi: The sketchbooks, 1990-97", published by Federico Motta Editore.
